Is ADHD actually a vitamin deficiency?

Posted in Vitamins on January 4th, 2009 by biometicslady

According to a  decades old Government article , ADHD may not be as complicated as you’ve been led to believe.  I’m quoting here “A 10 year test with rats proved that by withholding Calcium they can be bred down to a third the size of those fed with an adaquate amount of that mineral.  Their intelligence, too, can be controlled by mineral feeding as readily as their size, their bony structure, and their general health.  Place a number of these little animals in a maze after starving some of them in a certain mineral element.  The starved ones will be unable to find their way out, whereas the others will have little or no difficulty in getting out.  Their dispositions can be altered by mineral feeding.  They can be made quarrelsome and belligerent; they can even be turned into cannibals and be made to devour each other.  A cage full of rats will live in amity.  Restrict their Calcium, they will become irritable and draw away from each other.  They will begin to fight.  Restore their Calcium and they will grow more friendly; in time they will begin to sleep in a pile as before.  Many backward children are “stupid” merely because they are deficient in Magnesia.  We punish them for our failure to feed them properly.”

What does this mean for “ADHD”?  I’ll let you make up your own mind on that.

  • But consider this, hasn’t ADHD become more prevalent and problematic in the last few decades?  Why do you suppose that is?
  • Now consider the state of our soils and foods.  This article was written pre 1950, and it was a proven fact that there was serious depletion.  Being married to a farmer, I can tell you with certainty the advent of fertilizer has not solved this problem.  Three things are added to soil, Potash, Nitrogen, and Phosphorus.  Since the human body NEEDS about 98 different minerals, adding three doesn’t make much difference to what we need.  Of course, those three make the plants look good, makes them bigger and helps our yield.
  • Add to this the fact we now have GMO seed.  What is that?  Genetically modified.  It makes the plants resistant to Roundup, which normally kills everything, so the farmer can spray his fields for weeds that sap moisture and nutrition from the plant.  The necessity for this is an entirely different article, the bottom line is that spray is poison.  So on top of vitamin mineral deficiency, our bodies have to deal with poison.
  • Then we have transport time.  This is much longer than it used to be, and every moment a fruit or vegetable is not eaten after harvest, it’s value depletes.

So what does all of this lead us to conclude?  You know the answer to that.  What I can suggest, however, is the possibily that our ultra absorbable liquid vitamins and unique Calcium/Magnesium drink may indeed offer you and yours more help in this area of ADHD than you realize.  I cannot name specifics, so please get with me at Biometicslady@yahoo.com and I will point you in the right direction.

“Your Body Is Screaming For Get-Go-N ; Can you hear through the fatigue, confusion, depression, and weight gain?”

Posted in Vitamins on December 22nd, 2008 by biometicslady

by BIOMETICSLADY  (Yours truly)

Would you rather take a dozens of pills to get your B vitamins in separate component parts, or drink a delicious apple cinnamon flavored drink that actually works?

Get-Go-N Plus is an essential part of the Biometics line.  All Biometics products are produced to work synergistically.  The products are separated into different components, instead of all lumped into one formula.  This is for the simple reason that some products are more appropriate for certain health issues than others.

Get-Go-N Plus is composed of a B Vitamin Complex with the addition of Tyrosine.  Let’s look at the specific ingredients of this product, and the possible benefits of its use.

Let’s look at the B Vitamins first.  Deficiency in B vitamins can cause things such as muscle cramps, Anemia, Mental Slowness and confusion, lack of energy, respiratory infections, hair loss, and poor development in children, depression and abdominal cramps among others.

Note: B vitamins are destroyed by many things, such as caffeine, stress, alcohol, refined sugars and nicotine.  B vitamins are water based, and as such cannot be stored by the body, and any excess intake is excreted in the urine.  We must take in enough for our requirements each day, and since many people with health issues need more B Vitamins, and process it at a faster rate, it is no wonder so many diets are deficient in this basic nutrient.

Not all vitamins are created equal!

Get-Go-N Plus contains 1.7 G of Riboflavin (B2)   this is 100% of the RDA. Like the other B Vitamins, it plays a key role in energy metabolism, and is required for the metabolism of fats, ketones, carbohydrates, and proteins.  It contains 50 mg of Niacin (B3), which is 250% of the RDA. Niacin opens the capillaries, improving the flow of blood (resulting in the occasional red itchy “Niacin Flush”, which can be alleviated by drinking a simple glass of water).  Deficiency of Niacin has been shown to produce agitation and anxiety, as well as mental and physical slowness.  Vitamin B 5 (Pantothenic Acid) is at 10 mg, which is 100% of the RDA.  B5 deficiencies include fatigue, chronic stress and depression.  Vit B 5 is needed for hormone production and the uptake of Acetylcholine (Bio-Alert), which combine to prevent certain forms of depression. Pyridoxine (Vit B 6) is the most plentiful, at 10 mg, or 500%.  Many nutritionally oriented doctors do not believe that most diets do not provide optimal amounts of this vitamin {1}.

A healthy alternative for ADD/ADHD?

This vitamin aids in the processing of amino acids, which is only one of the reasons this component, contained in our Scholastic Enhancement Program,  has  proven to be amazingly useful for alleviating systems of ADHD.    Get- Go-N Plus has 100% of the Folic Acid or Folate as required by the RDA.   Most of us are familiar with this nutrient because of the recommendation to pregnant women get enough folate for the health of the developing fetus, since it is essential in the production of red blood cells and plays an important part in the production of DNA.  It also helps prevent Neural Tube Defects in the developing fetus.  The last B Vitamin Get-Go-N Plus contains is Vitamin B 12, at 6 mcg or 100% of the RDA.  Deficiency leads to such things as mood swings, irritability, confusion and mania {1}

Two little scoops… such powerful results!

Get-Go-N plus also contains .6 mg of Copper (30% of the RDA), a nutrient essential for transporting oxygen and for the maintenance of bone, connective tissue, brain, heart, and many other organs. {2}Copper is very important if you supplement with Zinc, as Zinc can interfere with the body’s absorption of Copper.  Zinc in this product is present at 5 mg (33%).  Zinc hardly needs an introduction.  It is essential for the immune system.  Zinc is an essential trace element for all forms of life. The significance of zinc in human nutrition and public health was recognized relatively recently.{3} Numerous aspects of cellular metabolism are zinc-dependent. Zinc plays important roles in growth and development, the immune response, neurological function, and reproduction. On the cellular level, the function of zinc can be divided into three categories: 1) catalytic, 2) structural, and 3) regulatory.{4}

The star of this product in my opinion is the Tyrosine.  Tyrosine (500 mg) paired with the B Vitamins makes for the perfect balance, and the Apple Cinnamon flavor of this makes it very tasty when mixed with juices and water, and even other flavored drinks.  Tyrosine is proven to be useful in ADHD, Depression, Appetite Suppression, Athletic Performance, And Parkinson’s, among other things.  Tyrosine is an amino acid is a precursor to numerous important substances in the body, such as the catacholamines Dopamine and Norepinephrine, and melanin and thyroxin as well. {5} “Tyrosine works” said Eric Beaverman, M.D., of the Princeton Brain Bio Center in New Jersey.  “It is a very mild but successful antidepressant that may be helpful to millions of people who suffer from mood problems, fatigue and tiredness.” It is also known that Tyrosine is a precursor to Seratonin.{6}For the above mentioned reasons, The Scholastic Enhancement Program by Biometics International, the leader in advanced Micellized nutrition, is a very effective therapy for the symptoms of ADHD/ADD. It has been found that the makeup of the brain can be altered by tryptophan, tyrosine (Get-Go-N) and choline (Bio-Alert) because they are the precursors of neurotransmitters substances that are released from a neuron or nerve cell when it fires.{7} In humans subjected to stressful conditions, tyrosine not only improves working memory and attention but may also improve mood and well-being {8, 9}. Tyrosine has been reported to alleviate some of the negative consequences of cold, high altitudes, fatigue, military training, and sleep deprivation {10-11}. It has also been postulated to decrease stress under conditions of aging, anorexia, and obesity {10}.

Choline: Often overlooked vital element

Posted in Vitamins on November 28th, 2008 by biometicslady

CHOLINE: “ADEQUATE INTAKE” LEVELS NOT FOR ALL

Choline: “Adequate Intake” Levels May Not Be Adequate for All

Choline (pronounced co-lean) is often an overlooked nutrient. Most people do not know what it does, and do not know how important it is for the body. News of a recent study may change choline’s status, as the results of the study challenge the amount of choline that experts thought was necessary for everyday health.

Choline was determined to have an “Adequate Intake” level of 550 mg per day for men, and 425 mg per day for women. This is the amount that is considered adequate for the body to perform its basic processes, including maintaining organs like the liver. However, the results from a recent study suggest that for some people, this “Adequate Intake” level is still not enough for the body to perform the basic processes.

This study had 57 people participating in it. There were 26 men, and 31 women. Of the women, 16 were premenopausal and 15 were postmenopausal. All the participants followed a diet for 10 days designed to contain the 550 mg choline per day recommended in the “Adequate Intake” level. After this period, their diets consisted of less than 50 mg of choline per day for various time periods of up to 42 days.

The researchers found that the “Adequate Intake” level of choline was actually not enough for six of the men in the study. These six men had signs of muscle damage or fatty liver while following the higher choline intake diet, the amount that was supposed to be adequate for their daily needs. Other results of the study show that 19 percent of the study participants needed more choline than the diet provided: up to 825 mg of choline per day was needed to prevent fatty liver and muscle damage.

The numbers of people affected while consuming the higher choline diet contrast to the period of time when the participants were eating the diet with less than 50 mg of choline per day. During the period of the low-choline diet, either muscle damage or fatty liver were reported in 77 percent of the men, and in 80 percent of the postmenopausal and 44 percent of the premenopausal women.

These results suggest that a review of the “Adequate Intake” levels of choline may be due, and the amount of choline recommended per day may soon increase. The researchers note that the health issues were not permanent. The people who had the health problems were able to correct them when they slowly added choline back into their regular diet.

What exactly is this nutrient that is so important to liver health? Choline is in the B-vitamin family. One of the most important functions of Choline is to be turned into both Phosphatidylcholine (PS) and Acetylcholine by the body. PS is essential for normal brain function, and proper liver health and function. Acetylcholine is important for normal brain development in infants, and for conduction of nerve signals and brain function in adults. Researchers have concluded that during pregnancy, the Choline intake of the mother can influence memory and brain development in the growing infant. For this reason, the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Sciences has recommended that pregnant and nursing women increase their intake of Choline.

Body Amazing

Posted in My Bio-thoughts on November 3rd, 2008 by biometicslady

by BIOMETICSLADY

I’m constantly amazed at the things the body can do to heal it’s self.  Do you remember that movie, “Field of Dreams”? “Build It and They Will Come”.  Just change it around a bit, and it describes what our greatest gift can do, “Give It the Right Building Blocks, It Will Heal”.

So will one product or one vitamin be the miracle that heals all your ills?  Absolutely not.  What it CAN do however, is to provide your body with the right materials that ALLOW the body to take it’s self from a negative state to a positive state.

“So how can one thing (Such as a multi like Bio-Fuel) do so many different things in so many parts of the body?”  Because everything starts with nutrition.  From the anti-inflamitory cells your body produces to help you heal, to the chemicals in the brain that regulate moods and attention.

What can I say….Wow. Thank you Biometics for letting me help….

Posted in My Bio-thoughts on October 29th, 2008 by biometicslady

It’s funny how life leads you down paths you never expected. I never thought I would be so profoundly changed by a product. Not only in the fact I love it and it’s done great things for my health….but the fact is now I’m touching other lives. Mother’s and fathers contact me about thier child with ADHD/ADD, they don’t want to put them on medication. Do you know how gratifying it is to have those people call me after putting their child on this, and tell me “it’s helping so much” “His teachers called with a GOOD report…..” Wow. What else can you say?

ADHD Call

Posted in My Bio-thoughts on October 26th, 2008 by biometicslady

I can’t recommend this one enough.  Dr. Thomas did an outstanding job.  Until I heard it, I didn’t realize how extensive Dr. Thomas’ clinical experience was.  He’s been in private practice for 28 years, and the large majority of his practice is now ADHD children and adults.  I was hoping he would tell why certain products from the Biometics line work so well, he did.  I was, I admit, disappointed that he did not go into more detail about why certain things had a positive effect on the brain and behavior, but for the average listener it was covered fairly well.  With my background in Psychology, I was probably hoping to hear a little more of the esoteric “Whys” than most people would be concerned with.  Over all, I’d give it A thumbs up rating! :)  If this is not a call you’ve taken the time to hear, I would suggest you do.  I’m locating it right on my Bio-Wow site.  ADHD, Bi-Polar, Depression….Many conditions can benefit from this information.

ADHD and Biometics

Posted in My Bio-thoughts on October 13th, 2008 by biometicslady

by BIOMETICSLADY

“But the company website says nothing about Biometics being so effective at treating symptoms of ADHD”.  This is true.  The company makes no medical claims whatsoever as to the results and efficacy of this product.  We must do our own research.  Biometics is not after all, a medical product that the FDA regulates (and therefore makes money from).  Of course they will steer you toward traditional medicine.

These medicines have been tested, they sure have.  Ritalin in the last five years caused at least 5 REPORTED deaths.  Strattera has it’s problems too.  Yes, they have been tested, and proven to be deadly.  How many people have died or even gotten sick from Biometics in the companies 15 year history?  ZERO!!!!

So, now I have that rant over with, how about some information on how Biometics can help you and yours?  That is, after all, the most important thing.  :)

First, you can go to the Biometics movie that explains exactly WHY Biometics is a superior product.  http://www.3stepsadd.com/liquid-vitamin-video.htm   next you can listen to the 24/7 automated call about nutrition for children, by  dialing 1-888-246-2428.  A menu comes on, choose #8, then choose #2 for the “chidren & Biometics” call.  After all this, email me at biometicslady@yahoo.com and we will discuss exactly the products that you will need, and how to properly use them to acheive the desired results.

This stuff is great! Why it works….

Posted in My Bio-thoughts on August 29th, 2008 by biometicslady
FIBROMYALGIA? CFS? LUPUS? JUST TIRED?
People suffering from Fibromyalgia generally have a deficiency of Magnesium four times more often than the general population (which by the way, of the population 72% is deficient in this mineral). Insufficient magnesium causes an increase in a body chemical called substance P, which is responsible for pain perception. In other words, you will hurt more if you don’t have enough magnesium. (Fibromyalgia sufferers have on average three times more Substance P than normal.)
If any kind of carbonated soda is consumed, that leaches both Calcium and Magnesium, so not just Fibro patients need it replaced, buy pretty much everyone.
Fibro and CFS patients lack oxygen in their muscles, and so need B12 to carry that oxygen. In order for vitamin B12 to work correctly, it needs other vitamins, which need other vitamins. So, a multi vitamin is absolutely necessary.
So, what I’m saying, for this condition, and conditions like it (Chronic Fatigue, Lupus and yes ADHD) supplementation is ABSOLUTELY necessary!!! I mean I get it, I can talk from experience. I came out of 13 years suffering with Chronic Fatigue/Epstein Barr.

After a multi year search for something that worked and tasted great, well, I found it. It works, and it’s amazing. It’s altered my life, the lives around me and helped my own children. Please, Please- If you or a loved one is suffering from a health issue, call me. (989) 585-5421 I’m Jen
I got into this profession to help, I have a real soft spot for anybody suffering. Maybe because I was in pretty rough shape for so long myself. And helping it naturally without drugs, it’s worth a shot.
