Shorts weather is here……Time to shed pounds!!!

Posted in Weight Loss on March 19th, 2009 by biometicslady

BY: BIOMETICSLADY

Shorts weather is here….or almost here.  It’s time to start thinking about taking a few pounds off those thighs.  It looks better, it’s better for you and when it gets really hot, it definately feels better.  Nothing is more painful than sweaty thighs rubbing together, and the resulting yeast on your skin that sometimes accompanies it.  So do something for yourself, get some products that protect your health while allowing you to shed those pounds, oftentimes at an amazing rate and without “dieting”.

My personal experience, and this is not to say everyone will experience this, is that every person I’ve put on this, within the first three months loses 30-40 pounds.  No special diets.  What combination do I use to get these results?  Actually….and this is suprising, just the basic nutriton program mostly.  Yes, the Aloe Plus, Bio-Fuel and Get-Go-N Plus. Order NE3.  Mix it up in the morning with water, drink and you’re good for the day.  Things can be accelerated by adding Body’s Best, these are described in the following articles.  Body’s Best is quite amazing, because you would expect it to tast bad.  It doesn’t, at all.  It’s orange flavored, what I do is take half a glass of cold water (add a little flavored drink if you want) and mix in a packet.  Mix it well, because it has a lot of fiber.

It makes you feel full, attaches (actually encases) fats in your meal, neutralizes carbs (and as a result

lowers sugars).  An added benefit appears to be it’s ability to lower cholesterol. So go to www.Liquid-Wow.com NOW……A NEW YOU IS WAITING!!!!

Take care and be sure to take “before” and “after” pictures and send them to me!!

Chitosan

Posted in Weight Loss on March 19th, 2009 by biometicslady

Chitosan

Fatty foods are everywhere. For someone on a low fat diet these foods are particularly hard to avoid at restaurants. A chitosan supplement may be the solution. Chitosan (kite-o-san) is a popular weight loss aid that can help prevent fat in foods from being absorbed by the body.

Chitosan is a natural, indigestible fiber derived from the shells of some shellfish. Once in the stomach, it works by clinging to and surrounding fat in the foods you eat, preventing the body from absorbing fat and storing it. Studies report that chitosan can absorb up to six times its own weight in fat.

Because of the way chitosan clings to fats, it can also cling to cholesterol and fat-soluble vitamins. The cholesterol-lowering effect is welcome, because it can reduce the amount of LDL (bad) cholesterol in the body while increasing the amount of HDL (good) cholesterol. Interfering with the absorption of essential fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E, Essential Fatty Acids) can be problematic. To get optimal use of both chitosan and your vitamins, it is recommend that any fat soluble vitamins be taken an hour or more before or after taking chitosan.

Chitosan can be a great solution to eating the occasional high fat meal. Even though taking chitosan supplements seems like an easy way to “cheat” on a diet and eat lots of high-fat foods with no penalties, chitosan works best when used in combination with a low fat diet. Chitosan needs to be in the stomach at the same time as the fatty foods, so chitosan is usually taken about half an hour before the meal that contains the most fat (usually the last meal of the day). It is always a good idea to consult your physician before starting any weight loss program.

Glycemic Index

Posted in Weight Loss on March 19th, 2009 by biometicslady

Glycemic Index

When the Low-Carb diet craze was beginning, just a few years ago, the average consumer could go into a vitamin store and purchase brand name snack bars that were marked as very low in total carbohydrates. Suddenly, all those “3g” of carbs became “18g”. What happened? Those higher carbs were there all along. The Low-Carb diet people were just doing what they thought was a great advertising gimmick: Only show the carbs that impact blood sugar level. Now, after being caught by the FDA, those companies have new nutrition labels. They still list total carbs (with a higher number), but are quick to point out the “Net effective carbs” or something similar on their labels.

Low-carb diets are based on the Glycemic Index (GI), or how strongly carbohydrates affect blood sugar levels. The “Net carb count” reflects the GI rating of the carbohydrates in their products. The body uses food by digesting it and turning it into glucose. Glucose is absorbed into the blood, and used as energy.

Simple carbs (things like dried fruits, starches, sugars, and refined flour in cakes and breads) have a high GI rating because they are digested and turned into glucose quickly. This sudden supply of glucose in the blood creates a “sugar rush.” To counter the over-abundance of glucose, the pancreas sends insulin out into the blood to lower the sugar levels. This essentially tells the body to store the unused glucose as fat, so the body can use it in the future during times of starvation. The sugar rush is over quickly, and the body reacts to the lack of glucose in the blood by feeling hungry again. This cycle of glucose spike and hunger is repeated, the person eats more (essentially overeating), and fat is continually being stored in the body.

Complex carbohydrates (things like fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains) have a low GI rating because compared to simple carbs they have more fiber and fewer sugars per gram of weight. The body is forced to separate the usable sugars from the unusable fiber, causing complex carbs to be digested more slowly. This means glucose is being released into the blood at a steady rate instead of a sudden rush. The steady release of glucose results in fewer feelings of hunger, and longer periods of time between hunger, than with the simple carbs.

The Glycemic Index measures carbs against pure glucose, the kind hospitals use (GI rating: 100), to see how much and how quickly the carbs cause glucose levels in the body to rise. Raw carrots have a GI rating of 16. Maple syrup has a GI rating of 54. Instant mashed potatoes have a GI rating of 97. Fructose, a natural sweetener usually derived from corn, has a GI rating of 12. When someone consumes fructose the body reacts with less of a rise in glucose levels than it does compared to when someone eats instant mashed potatoes.

Only carbohydrates that affect glucose levels can be measured on the Glycemic Index. This means sweeteners such as stevia, glycerine, sucralose, and acesulfame potassium, not only have no calories and are very low in total carbohydrates, but since they are not digested and do not affect blood glucose levels the sweeteners do not have a GI rating. It also means that the glucose levels will not be abruptly up and down but will be more stable, which may help reduce overeating and prevent sugar from being stored as fat.

ZINC & OSTEOPOROSIS

Posted in Vitamins on March 19th, 2009 by biometicslady

Zinc May Zap Osteoporosis Risk

Zinc is an essential mineral that is found in almost every cell. It stimulates the activity of many enzymes, supports a healthy immune system, is needed for wound healing, helps maintain a sense of smell and taste, is needed for normal growth and development, and now shows promise for reducing risk of osteoporosis in men.

In a recent study, 396 men were tested for bone mineral density (BMD) and were questioned to find out how much zinc they include in their regular diet. Four years later, the group was tested once again. According to The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, BMD was significantly lower in men who consumed the lowest amount of zinc.

The researchers concluded dietary zinc intake may have a positive association with BMD in men.

CHOLINE

Posted in Vitamins on March 19th, 2009 by biometicslady

Critical Role of Choline

Five years ago, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill researchers reported that choline played a critical role in memory and brain function. They found that choline positively affected the brain’s physical development.

Since then, UNC researchers have been working more closely to find the reason for the connection between choline and brain development. They have been working with nerve tissue derived from human cancer cells and recently discovered that choline causes stem, or parent, cell growth. They also found that there is less cell growth if choline is lacking in the diet.

“We found that if we provided (cells) with less choline, those nerve cells divided less and multiplied less. We then went on to try to explain why, by looking at genes known to regulate cell division,” said Dr. Steven H. Zeisel, professor and chair of nutrition at the UNC schools of public health and medicine.

Cell division is necessary for the development of the body. It is the process by which one cell divides into two cells causing reproduction and growth. It was found that when there was not enough choline in the diet, cell division was halted or slowed down.

The process of cell division is very important for developing babies. Babies get choline from their mother during pregnancy and from breast milk after they are born. Breast milk contains much more choline than many infant formulas.

Zeisel said that women who are pregnant or nursing are much more susceptible to choline deficiency. At these times, they need much more choline in their diet to support the growing baby.

Choline is a vitamin-like substance that is sometimes treated like b-vitamins and folic acid in dietary recommendations. Good sources of choline include eggs, meat, peanuts, and dietary supplements.

VITAMIN D NEEDS CALCIUM TO DECREASE FRACTURES

Posted in Vitamins on March 19th, 2009 by biometicslady

Study Says Vitamin D Needs Calcium To Decrease Risk of Fracture

Vitamin D has been in the news a lot recently, for several different reasons. One study has suggested that not getting enough of the vitamin negatively impacts the overall physical ability of seniors, which increases their risk of becoming disabled. Another study has suggested that the amount of vitamin D a person gets at a young age, either from sunlight or the diet, affects the risk for cancer later in life.

A new study suggests that increased vitamin D from supplements will reduce the risk of bone fractures only if calcium is also taken. The study from Belgium suggests that 700 to 800 IU of vitamin D, plus 1000 to 1200 mg of calcium would be optimal. This is approximately double the current recommendation of vitamin D, which is 400 IU per day. The current recommendation for calcium matches the amount suggested here.

The study involved men and women over the age of 50, who were given either vitamin D on its own, vitamin D plus calcium or a placebo. The study found that vitamin D alone did not significantly reduce the risk of hip fracture, but the vitamin D and calcium combination reduced the risk of hip fracture by 18 percent.

Other recent news involving vitamin D has focused on the request made by the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) that the “higher tolerable level” of vitamin D be increased. This request is made based on scientific review of many studies that show that there is no adverse reaction from high levels of vitamin D, and that the evidence suggests that increasing the amount of vitamin D recommended would lead to more health benefits.

Osteo Drugs… Causing more problems than they fix

Posted in Vitamins on March 18th, 2009 by biometicslady

Do you or a loved one suffer from Osteoporosis, and find that prescription medications are causing unwanted side effects?

By: BIOMETICSLADY

Since 70% of study participents for Osteo drugs (according to Business Week Researchers) drop out within the first year for heartburn, ulcers, nausea, flatulence, and ulceration of the esophagus among others, the long term effects of these drugs are really not known.

What if I told you that you or a loved one could build bone while still maintaining flexibility and reducing the risk of fractures? How about if you could do this naturally, with no medications, no side effects, no additional medications to control those side effects and no financial risk? Would you be interested in a few products that were safe, effective, natural and long lasting? Would you try it, or give it to a loved one? Even Doctors and the FDA are now recommending various vitamins as well as calcium paired with magnesium for building bone.

BIOMETICS offers a 30 day money back guarentee on all products, so you can try them risk free! Call me at (989) 239-7040 for product recommendations, or visit www.liquid-wow.com and look for the Deluxe Nutritional Energy program. Order today, and start on the road to health.

I didn’t get the flu this year!

Posted in My Bio-thoughts on March 15th, 2009 by biometicslady

Every year since I’ve been a teenager, I’ve gotten the flu.  Because I have asthma and I had a weakened immune system, I was told by the traditional medical community that I needed to get my flu shot.  With all that I’ve learned over the past year or so about how Big Pharma snows the public and even doctors into thinking medicines and shots are necessary, I started to think.  Because Phama basically “guesses” about what strain of flu will be prevelent that year, and the fact that there are hundreds of strains, it makes sense that the chances of being right are far less than the chances of being wrong. Bio-Immun

So….was I willing to pay $35 to get poked with a needle full of live toxin that would most certainly make me sick?  Since I like to think that I’m relatively intelligent, that one seemed to be a no-brainer.  NO!! So I didn’t, neither did anyone in my family.

This is the first year none of us got really, puking sick.  The kids brought home the usual colds that thrive in a classroom environment, they and Gary (DH) got a good share of those.  They didn’t take the Bio-Immune that I’ve mentioned.  I take it.  The one day I missed, a cold grabbed me.  I got rid of it in about half the time of everyone else (I had it about 4 days).Bio-ImmuneBio-Immune
