CoQ10….What is it? Why Does it Work?

Posted in My Bio-thoughts on December 31st, 2008 by biometicslady

by BIOMETICSLADY

I’ve waded through and deciphered a number of scientific mumbo jumbo articles to give the real scoop in normal everyday language to help make this important Coenzyme more understandable.  Heck, I learned quite a lot of stuff I didn’t know either!

CoQ10 is one of those things not classified as a vitamin (1), but it’s a major player in the body.  It’s very very important for energy production in our cells.  What in our body does not require energy?  So since the body only produces it in small amounts, or gets it in small amounts from foods, it’s a given that supplimentation with CoQ10 is a necessity.(2) And since production of CoQ10 peaks around 20, and steadily declines with age, the small effort of taking a supplement, could potentially pay off big.

What is it? In the plainest terms… Coenzymes are the helpers of enzymes.  Enzymes are needed for every function of the body, and in order to work, they need their little helpers, the co-enzymes.  So if there are not enough co-enzymes  (along with a mineral such as Magnesium), our bodies are in trouble.  An analogy would be to a car, without fuel, it doesn’t run.  So without the right fuel for our 100 trillion cells, we don’t work either.  And this little co-enzyme does double duty in our bodies.  It works as an anti oxident too.  We all know what oxidation does to a car… it rusts it.  It’s the same in our bodies.  We don’t literally rust, that would be silly.  But the process and the product are much the same, if not exactly.  Ani-oxidents in the body serve to neutralize the nasty “rust” causing stuff from our food and air and even stress that causes some pretty bad results in our cells.  This is the same process that causes the dreaded aging in our cells. So is CoQ10 the fountain of youth?  No.  But it can sure slow things down.

I have people asking me if this is good for the heart.  In a word and according to scientific research…. Yes.  In everything I’ve found, the correlation of it’s use with improvement over non using groups was significant. (That was my scientific mumbo jumbo, but I’m done now.) If you are looking for a supplement good for the heart, Cell Care by Biometics is a superior method of getting CoQ10.  Why?  Because of the process they use called Micellization.  Micellization means that the droplet size of this nutrient is reduced so small, that this fat-soluable particle becomes water soluable.  Complete water solubility means better absorption, up to 500% better than regular vitamins.   Better absorption means better results!

CoenzymeQ10 has been found to be very low in people with heart disease, Diabetes, Parkinsons, Cancer & HIV/AIDS.  Some prescription drugs can also lower CoQ10 levels (3)

Scientific research has suggested CoQ10 has uses in:

  • High Blood Pressure
  • Age related macular degeneration
  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Angina
  • Heart Toxicity resulting from chemotherapy
  • Asthma
  • Breast Cancer
  • Cardiomyopathy
  • CFS
  • Kidney Failure
  • Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Heart Protection
  • Migrain Prevention
  • Many Others

The most amusing evidence I found was for Peridontal Disease!  If you swish the Biometics Products, Cell Care and Bio-Fuel around in your mouth, there are dentists promoting the use of this for not only Gum Disease, but bad breath!

“Your Body Is Screaming For Get-Go-N ; Can you hear through the fatigue, confusion, depression, and weight gain?”

Posted in Vitamins on December 22nd, 2008 by biometicslady

by BIOMETICSLADY  (Yours truly)

Would you rather take a dozens of pills to get your B vitamins in separate component parts, or drink a delicious apple cinnamon flavored drink that actually works?

Get-Go-N Plus is an essential part of the Biometics line.  All Biometics products are produced to work synergistically.  The products are separated into different components, instead of all lumped into one formula.  This is for the simple reason that some products are more appropriate for certain health issues than others.

Get-Go-N Plus is composed of a B Vitamin Complex with the addition of Tyrosine.  Let’s look at the specific ingredients of this product, and the possible benefits of its use.

Let’s look at the B Vitamins first.  Deficiency in B vitamins can cause things such as muscle cramps, Anemia, Mental Slowness and confusion, lack of energy, respiratory infections, hair loss, and poor development in children, depression and abdominal cramps among others.

Note: B vitamins are destroyed by many things, such as caffeine, stress, alcohol, refined sugars and nicotine.  B vitamins are water based, and as such cannot be stored by the body, and any excess intake is excreted in the urine.  We must take in enough for our requirements each day, and since many people with health issues need more B Vitamins, and process it at a faster rate, it is no wonder so many diets are deficient in this basic nutrient.

Not all vitamins are created equal!

Get-Go-N Plus contains 1.7 G of Riboflavin (B2)   this is 100% of the RDA. Like the other B Vitamins, it plays a key role in energy metabolism, and is required for the metabolism of fats, ketones, carbohydrates, and proteins.  It contains 50 mg of Niacin (B3), which is 250% of the RDA. Niacin opens the capillaries, improving the flow of blood (resulting in the occasional red itchy “Niacin Flush”, which can be alleviated by drinking a simple glass of water).  Deficiency of Niacin has been shown to produce agitation and anxiety, as well as mental and physical slowness.  Vitamin B 5 (Pantothenic Acid) is at 10 mg, which is 100% of the RDA.  B5 deficiencies include fatigue, chronic stress and depression.  Vit B 5 is needed for hormone production and the uptake of Acetylcholine (Bio-Alert), which combine to prevent certain forms of depression. Pyridoxine (Vit B 6) is the most plentiful, at 10 mg, or 500%.  Many nutritionally oriented doctors do not believe that most diets do not provide optimal amounts of this vitamin {1}.

A healthy alternative for ADD/ADHD?

This vitamin aids in the processing of amino acids, which is only one of the reasons this component, contained in our Scholastic Enhancement Program,  has  proven to be amazingly useful for alleviating systems of ADHD.    Get- Go-N Plus has 100% of the Folic Acid or Folate as required by the RDA.   Most of us are familiar with this nutrient because of the recommendation to pregnant women get enough folate for the health of the developing fetus, since it is essential in the production of red blood cells and plays an important part in the production of DNA.  It also helps prevent Neural Tube Defects in the developing fetus.  The last B Vitamin Get-Go-N Plus contains is Vitamin B 12, at 6 mcg or 100% of the RDA.  Deficiency leads to such things as mood swings, irritability, confusion and mania {1}

Two little scoops… such powerful results!

Get-Go-N plus also contains .6 mg of Copper (30% of the RDA), a nutrient essential for transporting oxygen and for the maintenance of bone, connective tissue, brain, heart, and many other organs. {2}Copper is very important if you supplement with Zinc, as Zinc can interfere with the body’s absorption of Copper.  Zinc in this product is present at 5 mg (33%).  Zinc hardly needs an introduction.  It is essential for the immune system.  Zinc is an essential trace element for all forms of life. The significance of zinc in human nutrition and public health was recognized relatively recently.{3} Numerous aspects of cellular metabolism are zinc-dependent. Zinc plays important roles in growth and development, the immune response, neurological function, and reproduction. On the cellular level, the function of zinc can be divided into three categories: 1) catalytic, 2) structural, and 3) regulatory.{4}

The star of this product in my opinion is the Tyrosine.  Tyrosine (500 mg) paired with the B Vitamins makes for the perfect balance, and the Apple Cinnamon flavor of this makes it very tasty when mixed with juices and water, and even other flavored drinks.  Tyrosine is proven to be useful in ADHD, Depression, Appetite Suppression, Athletic Performance, And Parkinson’s, among other things.  Tyrosine is an amino acid is a precursor to numerous important substances in the body, such as the catacholamines Dopamine and Norepinephrine, and melanin and thyroxin as well. {5} “Tyrosine works” said Eric Beaverman, M.D., of the Princeton Brain Bio Center in New Jersey.  “It is a very mild but successful antidepressant that may be helpful to millions of people who suffer from mood problems, fatigue and tiredness.” It is also known that Tyrosine is a precursor to Seratonin.{6}For the above mentioned reasons, The Scholastic Enhancement Program by Biometics International, the leader in advanced Micellized nutrition, is a very effective therapy for the symptoms of ADHD/ADD. It has been found that the makeup of the brain can be altered by tryptophan, tyrosine (Get-Go-N) and choline (Bio-Alert) because they are the precursors of neurotransmitters substances that are released from a neuron or nerve cell when it fires.{7} In humans subjected to stressful conditions, tyrosine not only improves working memory and attention but may also improve mood and well-being {8, 9}. Tyrosine has been reported to alleviate some of the negative consequences of cold, high altitudes, fatigue, military training, and sleep deprivation {10-11}. It has also been postulated to decrease stress under conditions of aging, anorexia, and obesity {10}.

I’m breaking with the format I’ve gotten myself into.  I’m going to make a personal observation today.

I listened to something amazing and powerful today that really made me re evaluate the current state of the economy, my life, the job crisis in Michigan with the autoworkers.  It delivers a message about financial security and how to acheive that considering the present atmosphere.

Go to http://www.15years left.com and listen.  Then call me, (989) 239-7040.

Why Detox?

Posted in My Bio-thoughts on December 16th, 2008 by biometicslady

Dear Readers,

Many of you visiting this site have painful maladies, or are dealing with loved ones who have health issues.  I believe 100% in my Biometics, they have changed my life…and I think even saved it when I was dealing with some toxic issues.

However, Vitamin Therapy will work much better in a clean system.  In order for you to feel the full effects of your therapy, you MUST remove toxins from your body.  What is a first important step?  Water.  Water is much maleigned, often overlooked, and so terribly necessary to our bodies.  I’m not talking about city or treated water, this has Chlorine and Fluoride.  Chlorine kills bacteria in the water, what do you suppose it does in our bodies?  Right, it kills bacteria…good and bad.  Fluoride, the Powers that Be would have you believe is good.  It is not, it is a waste product that ‘they’ did not know what to do with, so it was dumped in our water supply and we were brainwashed into thinking this deadly toxin was actually good for you.  It damages major organs….look it up.

What I’m talking about is getting good water, Reverse Osmosis or Spring Water.  So that’s the first step.  It’s easy to take, mix lots of water in your drink in the morning, drink a couple of bottles throughout the day.  For most people, that’s enough.  There’s information about eight 8 oz glasses a day, or drink your body weight in ounces.  Maybe this is great for some folks, but for most of us, it isn’t really realistic.  Plus it could flush some important electrolytes out of your system  What I’m saying is, something is much better than nothing.  What I’ve always been told….drink enough so your urine is a very light color, and has no oder at all.  The “average” amount on this isn’t for everyone.  I personally hold that NO ONE is “average”, we are all wonderfully unique, and the averages or “normal levels” that doctors blood test for, are not necessarily applicable.

So what is the most reasonable way to Detox your system?  I’ve done a bit of research on this, mainly for a lady with Fibromyalgia that came to me for help.  Well, most of the Detoxs that can be done for a reasonable cost like “The Master Cleanse”, while wonderful, are not something the majority of us can do.  And not many can do 30 day water fasts either.  So…..the most reasonable, do-able way I found was something called Holy Tea.  It’s got some great ingredients, and you simply drink two eight oz glasses of this a day.  I think that’s do-able, I’m going to do it myself.  I can’t tell you to do something I won’t do, right?

This is great for the system, is there more that should be done?  Yes, actually.  We need to clean our colon.  There’s some really nasty crap in there, excuse the pun.  This doesn’t mean take a bunch of laxatives….NO,NO,NO! This needs to be done naturally, and gently.  Get a Cleanse at your health food store, and take only the recommended amount, more is not better.  Good ingredients are fennel, Cascara Sagrada, Psyllium, Buckthorn, Licorice and Rhubarb.  If you can get something with Black Walnut Hulls, Cloves, and Cayenne in the blend, all the better.  All three ingredients need to be present together to get rid of Parasites….we won’t go into Parasites here.  Most people don’t want to know that humans get them too.  They do, I know…Gross.

Co-Q 10 for Heart Health

Posted in Vitamins on December 13th, 2008 by biometicslady

Coenzyme Q-10 for the Heart

Coenzyme Q-10 (CoQ10) is a member of a family of compounds called quinones. These compounds play an important role in creating energy in cells, and in the processes of breathing. Coenzyme Q-10 gets its name from the fact that it works very closely with enzymes throughout the body that are necessary for natural chemical reactions.

The body produces a small amount of CoQ10 naturally. It is in the mitochondria (the part of the cell that uses oxygen to create energy) of almost all cells, and is found in the highest concentration in cells that require a lot of energy, such as cells in the heart, liver, kidneys, and pancreas. Production of CoQ10 peaks around age 20 and declines with age, so researchers believe that older people could benefit by supplementing with CoQ10.

Several studies have shown that patients with heart and cardiovascular conditions have low levels of CoQ10 in their body. Supplements can aid stabilization of heart rate, help strengthen the heart muscle, help lower blood pressure, and can even decrease symptoms of heart and cardiovascular problems, such as fluid retention in the ankles (edema), and may help periodontal disease, a gum disease that can be a symptom of heart disease.

CoQ10 appears to have some properties that can boost rates of healing after surgery: studies show that cardiac patients who supplemented with CoQ10 prior to heart surgery tend to recover sooner and maintain blood and tissue levels of CoQ10 better than patients not receiving supplements. CoQ10 also acts as an antioxidant to help prevent cellular damage from unstable oxygen molecules called free radicals, and can recharge other antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E.

Co-Q 10 is available in our Cell Care.  It contains 30 mg of Co-Q 10, as well as 200%  Vitamin E, which is also shown to be beneficial to heart health.
